The Darkening Wild
Thranduil son of Oropher, King of the Woodland Realm
Patron benefit: when traveling in northern Mirkwood, all TNs are -2 (TN 16)
King Oropher of the Sindar was the first to found a Woodland Realm in Greenwood the Great thousands of years ago. He perished in battle during the War of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves which ended in the overthrow of Sauron and the destruction of Barad-dur.
His son, Thranduil, was crowned the new King of the Woodland Realm over a thousand years ago, and has ruled since. During the Watchful Peace, he has not been active outside his own realm. He is known to have at least one son – about his wife, if she lives, nothing is known outside his own people.
King Thranduil remains suspicious of outsiders, though he did send companies of elvish woodwrights to Esgaroth and Dale to help in the rebuilding effort, and a few Elves of Mirkwood remain there as his emissaries. The raft-Elves continue to have regular contact with the Men of Lake-town, of course.
